You've Been Awesome

Seasonal greetings everyone. Merry Christmas... Eve. Glad to be back here blogging after about a month. Its been an awesome month since the ending of November till date. 20th December's Christmas Praise Celebration was awesome in so many ways. One of the things that impacted my life and gave great encouragement to me were my new young brother's and sister's in Christ, sharing their testimony on stage. I've truly been blessed. I'll be heading S7 of World Harvest Church yet again in the coming year and also the Worship Team 'Team B'. Thanks for all your support and prayers this year, I really appreciate your God sent life and unselfish heart. Let's make 2010 happen. God bless and bye bye.

The Watchmaker

Bluetooth watch by Sony Ericsson

If you watch 'Heroes' series and know who Gabriel a.k.a. Sylar is, you'd get a clearer picture on this next post. Enjoy!

A watch proves very obviously that there was someone that made the watch. And a watches primary function is to show the time. There are watches nowadays so hi-tech that it even functions as a communication device, like a cell phone. But most often than not, people buy a watch for its primary function, which is to show the time. So we can come to an equation that a watch was created for a specific purpose by someone.

What I'm trying to get to is, your existence proves that there is a Creator and there is a purpose you are living. Earning money is definitely not the primary function of a human being, it is part of what we need to do but it ain't a humans primary function. If earning money was the primary purpose of our existence, you will feel complete satisfaction when you earned your first cent and you would never need another penny again. You've probably heard people saying, or if not yourself, "When I earn my first thousand, I know I'll be happy". But we all know, especially if you're working, that that does not happen. Though we are joyful for a moment, but moments, mind you, never last. It's called moments for a reason (duh!). This applies for travelling, coffee drinking, video games, excellent results in examination, popularity, amount of facebook friends and etc..... You can try, but rest assured you will find that, at least for this area and topic, I'm right :)

If you've been wondering about your purpose in life, let me tell you, everyone will wonder about it sooner or later. Don't pacify or numb that feeling, it will only lead you to more sorrows and fake happiness.

There is a solution to everything. Every problem, every sickness and deceases, every hurt, every wound. The solution is Jesus. I don't say it because I'm a Christian and that I want to convert you (if you haven't accepted Jesus into your life). I say this because, I've tasted an awesome "hamburger" and I'd like to recommend this "hamburger" to you. I would be a selfish imbecile if I had a million dollars but didn't share the moments spending the money with people (friends).

All you need to do is long for an answer of your purpose here on earth. He'll definitely answer you.

'FUN FACT'
If your mind is blank, you're probably heading no where.

The Value Of Mystery

An intellectual gospel is always in danger of creating a God that looks a lot like us—one that is our size. The quest for answers sometimes leads to a rejection of mystery. As a result mystery is often treated as something intolerable, instead of a real treasure. Living with mystery is the privilege of our walk with Christ. Its importance cannot be overrated. If I understand all that is going on in my Christian life, I have an inferior Christian life. The walk of faith is to live according to the revelation we have received, in the midst of the mysteries we can’t explain. That’s why Christianity is called "the faith."

All too often believers abandon or dilute their call in order to feel better about the things they cannot explain. To allow what we cannot answer to downgrade what He has shown us is to be carnal minded. Too many only obey what they understand, thus subjecting God to their judgments. God is not on trial; we are. A true cross-walk is obeying where we have revelation in spite of the apparent contradiction in what we cannot explain. To obey only when we see that there will be a favorable outcome is not obedience. Obedience is supposed to be expensive. To embrace what He has shown us and to obey what He has commanded us, often in the midst of unanswerable questions, is an honor beyond measure. It is a great privilege to be a believing believer in the midst of a culture of unbelief. We must embrace this privilege. No Christian should be unmoved by the Lord’s question, “When I return, will I find faith on the earth?” I have set my heart to be His pleasure by living in faith.

The Language Of The Holy Spirit

When we were young Christians, the Holy Spirit often speaks in our language. We hear things very specifically, we are guided and lead by the Holy Spirit pretty much in detail. Things are going great but as time goes on, suddenly it seems as if the Holy Spirit isn't with us anymore. It seems like He's not speaking to us anymore. Many Christians would question in their mind, "Am I doing something wrong?" Some might think, "I must have sinned, maybe that's why I don't get blessed anymore."

This post is gonna help you a lot, whether you've just accepted Jesus into your life (awesome! [Luke 15:7 & 10]) or you've been a Christians for some years, or if you've been a Christian for ages. Here are some answers to your 'hows', 'whys' and 'whats'.

First of all we've got to understand that the Holy Spirit's first language ain't English or any other tongue that you might be speaking. So if sometimes you don't hear the Holy Spirit speaking, you're probably on the wrong channel.

Another thing that might help you is knowing why the Holy Spirit is here with us. What is the purpose of His coming here on earth. Well, the Holy Spirit is not here to help you overcome your sin. Some of you are going, "WHAT!! THIS IS FALSE TEACHING RIGHT HERE!"
Let me say that if you think that the Holy Spirit is here to help you overcome your sin, you're totally getting it wrong. Jesus has already died for your sins and He has rose from the grave and given you righteousness. And when you accept that fact, you can get what all Jesus has to offer. The Holy Spirit was sent not to do again the thing that Jesus already did. The Holy Spirit is here to bring you to look at Jesus, grace!

You've got to understand that you are no longer a sinner the moment you accepted Jesus into your life [Hebrews 10:10 & 14], and your old man (nature) died and was buried when you we're baptized in water, and out of the water came a new man, a saint, a holy person, a child of God, a royal priesthood [Exodus 19:5-6 & 1 Peter 2:9-10]. What Jesus did, Holy Spirit doesn't need to do again. Still often many Christians go around preaching an inaccurate gospel and live their lives trying to overcome their old man, (which by the way already died in the baptismal tank) as though Jesus didn't do anything. Please do not dilute the value and effectiveness of the blood of Christ just because you are struggling with a certain bad habit or sin [Hebrews 10:29].

Some other Christians believe that they have a new nature but they believe they still have another half with them, their old nature. This is also an inaccurate understanding. I call this.... identity crisis, split personality or a case of CS (Christian Schizophrenia). People that have this mindset live lethargic Christian lives because they believe that although they have victory in Christ and they are an overcoming new man, they do not live lives like that. Its like saying, "Oh I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength, I can overcome but the fact is I actually can't. Oh I'm wonderfully made, oh but no, I'm a sinner and I'm not worthy of anything coz I'm actually a sinner." [Romans 5:12-21]. Come on people, Christ made you worthy. The Father does not see you as you were anymore, because He looks at you through His perfect sinless Son, and you are now WORTHY! You are seated together with Christ in the heavenly places. How can you be in the heaven but you're a sinner?

I'm not saying that you cannot sin anymore as a new man (trust me, I've tried, hahaha), what I'm saying is, is that you're not prone to sin. A sinner is prone to sin. But you are a saint and you are prone to righteousness and glory [Romans 9:30 & Romans 5:1-2 & Romans 6:1-14].

Now having said this, the Holy Spirit purpose is none of the above. He is not here to help you overcome your problems but He is here to empower you to overcome your problems [Acts 1:8]. We have been given a mandate to multiply and subdue the earth. Heaven is God's but the earth is ours for the ruling [Genesis 1:28]. Let us not create a doctrine that gives us permission to not be responsible for the things we're in charge of. The body of Christ for too long, in the name of humility, have castrated and emasculate the call and identity of the Church. It's time we take responsibility and answer this call. Will you?

People are hungry and thirsty for a power that leads to salvation. We have this power within us when the Holy Spirit CAME upon the Church two thousand years ago [Acts 2:1-4]. Let us not disappoint them.

If you are reading this and you wanna have this life as well, come, pray this prayer with me. Salvation and eternal life is but a second away.

Jesus, I believe You are real and true to Your words. Forgive my sins and come into my life and make me new.

If you want to know more or have prayed this prayer, give me a call or any Christian friend you know. Be sure to read more on the authentic gospel (good news) here on daniel wong's blogspot. God bless and bye bye.

The Little Things

'A Glass of Water' by Mr.Beaver (flickr)'

I read an e-mail recently about "annoying" things that happens to us. We face them all the time. But maybe, just maybe, we're there for a specific purpose or reason. Here's how the e-mail goes, hope you're encouraged and blessed.

As you might remember, the head of a company survived 9/11
Because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was
His turn to bring the donuts.

One woman was late because her
Alarm clock didn't go off in time.

One of them
Misses his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take
Time to change.

One's
Car wouldn't start.

One couldn't
Get a taxi.

The one that amazed me was the man
Who put on a new pair of shoes that morning,
Took the various means to get to work
But before he got there, he developed
A blister on his foot.
He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.
That's why he is alive today...

Now when we're
Stuck in traffic,
Miss an elevator
Turn back to answer a ringing phone call...

All the little things that annoy me.
I think to myself,
This is exactly where
God wants me to be
At this very moment...

Next time your morning seems to be going wrong,
The children are slow getting dressed,
You can't seem to find the car keys,
You hit every traffic light,
Don't get mad or frustrated;
It may be just that
God is at work watching over you.

I know some of you reading this might get it the wrong way. If you think that every problem that happens to you is from God, dude, God is not giving problems to you, you're just in a stroke of bad luck. So raise up and resist the devil and he will flee (run in terror) from you [James 4:7].

'WORDS OF FAITH'
So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you. (James 4:7 Amplified Bible)

Digesting Jesus

When Jesus said we must eat His flesh and drink his blood, he wasn’t talking about cannibalism, but he was referring to ingestion that leads to incarnation. Christ was the Word that became flesh. It is important that we ingest the Word of God in a way that causes us to digest His life until Christ is literally formed in us. Ingestion without digestion will lead to feeling full but not being transformed. Digestion is more than just a taste test, it is the full meal of His presence that conforms us to His image. There is an old saying that is true in this case, “You are what you eat!”

Many people ingest the Bible but they don’t digest the living, active Word of God. Religion fills their souls but never satisfies their longing for real life. Digestion requires assimilation, not just consumption. Truth was never meant to just be recounted, it was intended to be experienced. When we exchange the communion meal for a dinner commentary or a cookbook, we deprive ourselves of the privilege of abundant life, and relegate ourselves to a meager existence in the Kingdom.

Jesus never intended for us to be full of religion, but He desired us to be filled with His Spirit. Christ is the ultimate happy meal, and as we digest Him, we become one flesh with him. That is why Jesus prayed that,
“We may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me…The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me."

Christ is not talking about His disciples getting along with each other here. He was describing the unity between the babe and the Bridegroom, where the intimacy of intercourse assimilates us into one flesh. When we come to the communion table and eat the flesh of our King, we become an inseparable unity that causes the world to experience His presence every time they encounter us. In other words, when they see us, they have seen the Father.

We are Christ to the world. I don’t mean that we just preach Christ to the world. I mean people should experience Christ when they meet us because it is Jesus who is being formed in us. As a matter of fact, it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.

When people experience us preaching the Word without us becoming the Word, the gospel gets reduced to a mere philosophy-- principles to be argued and words that can be wrangled over. But when the Word becomes flesh and dwells among them, they find themselves pierced to the heart and convicted in the depths of their very souls. It is incumbent upon us as the people of God to preach Christ wherever we go and, only if necessary, use words!

Attack Of The Clones

poster of movie 'Surrogates'

Religious people, like the Pharisees of old, have the hardest time reaching out to folks who think “outside of the box” and don’t behave inside their hopeless shackles. Part of the struggle comes from what they have done to the Savior of the world. They have sterilized the gospel. Jesus took water and turned it to wine, but 2,000 years later, today’s Pharisees have diluted it to grape juice. Religion has reduced the supernatural power of God to a history lesson about serving the dead body of a helpless Christ who, still nailed to the Cross, is incapable of rocking their sacred boat. They emphasize the drowning of baptism, arguing over how people should get wet and what should be said over them during their dipping. Religious people have lost touch with the fact that the bold print of baptism is not on the descent but on the ascension. The death of Christ paid for our sins, but it was His resurrection that gave life to our mortal bodies. Religion embraces death sadistically and moves the risen Christ out of the garden and back to the tomb. Religious people pray things like “God, kill me,” not realizing that even the One who came to give His life as a ransom for us all prayed, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup (of death) from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42). Jesus did not want to die; He wanted to do His Father’s will. If religion had its way, it would rewrite Mary’s proclamation to read, “He is in the tomb just where we laid Him!” We have lost sight of the fact that the Cross was for the old man not the new man, and that the true Christian life is not about dying for Christ, but living in the life He purchased for us to establish His Kingdom on earth! The Church must shake off the shackles of religion and embrace our supernatural destiny.

S.O.S?

picture taken by me on pangkor beach

Hey there readers. The recent few days has been real "shaky" for our planet earth don't you agree? At times we may wonder what's going wrong or why are these things happening. This next post is here to cheer you up and settle your mind. This post isn't only gonna pacify your situation or issue (if you do have one), its gonna set you free and heal your soul totally! Believe it or not, just by reading a simple blog and an O-level graduate student's writing, your life can be changed :)

In the New Testament (a part of the Bible if you didn't know), Jesus and many other writers reminds us time and time again of our identity and purpose for our creation. Here are some verses you can check out - [Romans 6:4, 7:6, 8:16-17, 2 Corinthians 5:17].

We know that all these things said about us are true. After these things we are then faced with our o so real life. This is when we have issues and we are challenged in our faith and what we've been taught or even what we preach and teach. Sadly many fail and interestingly, fail not due to the giant problems but fail because they do not apply stuff that has been learnt and therefore succumb to the issue. We've got to began to change things around. We've got to match up verses that have been said about us with the issues we face. But at times, this is not the case. Many times we know what we're suppose to do but we don't do it. Why?

The reason is this. Fear binds us and makes us blur in our focus on Christ. The devil is here to steal, kill and destroy and he does not do anything else but that. If he blesses you, he'll bless you for the reason to steal it away again. He heals you with a price when actually God gives healing free of charge, no strings attached (hey if you're reading this and think that Jesus will heal you but then you gotta be a committed Christian after that and you can't enjoy life no more, dude you've been taught wrongly). The devil gives you a future, but with the intention to one day not only take you down, but your whole family (which you probably don't even have yet). No matter what the devil does, even the good things that he does and gives you, it will probably be a disguise of his stealing, killing and destroying.

Do not fear because He that is in you is greater than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). In anything we do, fear is the cause for us to succumb to the devil and hand over our authority, which is actually higher than his, to him. The only way to defeat him is by having peace. I'm talking about the peace that only Jesus gives (eh by the way, when you hear or read the word 'give' right, means its free right? Well just a thought). We see an account in the Bible of Jesus sleeping in the boat while there was a great storm (Matthew 8:23-27). We also see in the account that the disciples panicked and were afraid of dying. The only way to beat the "storm" is having peace. Jesus destroyed 3 things in the process of dying on the cross and resurrecting Himself (wooohh how cool is that heh?). He destroyed sin, death and Satan himself. Thus meaning, He destroyed the fear over sin, the fear of dying and the fear of whatever Satan throws at you. Some of us might be addicted in a certain sin and we fear that we can never get out of that sin. Good news for you, Jesus has destroyed that fear. And the sooner you understand that the sooner you'll get peace from Jesus and the sooner you'll not sin anymore. In other words, you'll be TOTALLY set free!
Some of you might have heard God telling you to preach to a 'samseng' or a thug (same meaning actually) in school or something. But because you fear getting beaten up (fear of dying), you back off. Let me tell you that Jesus has defeated death and not only that but substituted that place of fear of dying with ETERNAL LIFE! You don't even have to fear the punk himself, coz' he's been ripped apart, humiliated, dragged around the whole of heaven and hell naked when Jesus died for us.

So come on people, don't be a slave any longer to that 'little pathetic excuse for an alternative' (the devil), for you are a son of God. And if God has punk'ed the devil, so shall we. He's just a dog that barks loud but I think the more you beat a dog up, he'll bark softer (sorry that I've equated the devil to a dog. To all you dog lovin' people out there, sorry). Time to go, divide and conquer.

So what say you? Slave? or Son!?

'WORDS OF FAITH'
Moreover the law entered the the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 5:20-21 NKJV)

What Are The Odds?

True happiness. Wondering how you can get it? You're at the right blog reading the right post at the right time. Check out the odds. You're probably the 0.001% of the entire world population that is reading this post right now. Feeling happy already?

Many people find happiness in different things, such as, occupying themselves with fun filled activities (watching a movie or hangin' out with friends or going on a window shopping spree or just sleeping) or spending quality time with their love ones, or planning for a tour to the Caribbean islands. Some depend on good luck or good fortune to bring them happiness. Some pick up a hobby, like learning a certain musical instrument or learning how to cook, doing some gardening, and our all time favourite, collecting stamps (as if anyone still does this, but if you do, please contact me, I can give you some of mine). Some go on to simply do what they love doing, such as, eating, going for 'makan trips' (best related to Malaysians), reading a book of a fictional nerd wizard boy turn hero (yeah right), watching a favourite movie (studies show that people enjoy watching things that are not real, that will never happen, or anything related to blood), or the all time most popular pass time, sleeping (again?).

All the above are true. People do get happiness in these various ways and probably many other weird and not so common ways which we will not mention about today. But, mind you, all of these have just a temporary effect in bringing you happiness. Temporary pleasure isn't the same as lasting satisfaction and happiness.

I have learned and found out through the years that TRUE happiness can't be found, it can't be earned by what you do or generated emotionally. TRUE happiness is given. It is receivable as much as it is rejectable. Happiness isn't TRUE happiness but TRUE happiness will bring happiness. TRUE happiness stands the test of earthquakes (shaky times in life and surroundings), it defeats defeat without words, it makes you have inexpressible emotions and it even stands the test of test itself.

'WORDS OF TRUTH'
He saved us not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heir according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:5-7 NASB)

Dear reader, if you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ (TRUE happiness) into your life. You need to do that right now. The happiness of your life will no more depend on the happenings around you or what you do but it will be found in Jesus Christ (TRUE happiness). And when there is TRUE happiness how can there not be happiness that follow? So take a step of faith and receive Him (TRUE happiness) into your heart. He loves you as much as anytime He has ever loved you no matter what you do right now.

If you want to receive TRUE happiness today, read this following statement with all of your heart,

Jesus Christ, come into my life. Even though I don't know much about You, but with all of my heart, I receive You into my life and this gift of eternal life. Jesus, I feel so stupid doing this, its like I'm talking to this brainless computer, but I'm sure You're listening to me somewhere. Thank you for Your love even though I'm not perfect. 谢谢耶稣 ^_^

If you have read this with a believing heart, congratulations, you just prayed and you just got a new life. Your sins are forgiven. Now, you must contact a Christian friend or you can also call me so that we know we have a new brother/sister.

'WORDS OF DESTINY'
For we are God's [own] handiwork (His workmanship, recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which he prearranged and made ready for us to live]. (Ephesians 2:10 Amplified Bible)

The Game of Life - Part 3, Focus On Your Career

my all time favorite football player, David Beckham

In football, a footballers career is around 10-15 years, depending on what position they play and when did they turn pro. They give all that they can, put all their efforts into training, sometimes even jeopardising their relationships (friendship and etc.) just because of their intense passion and commitment to their career. Players want to look back on their careers and know that they have given their best and be remembered by fans for their achievements not only as a football player but as a person who benefited and impacted the sport. On the other hand, players that get caught up in relationships and in the heat of all other things that has nothing to do with even a ball, often are players that are not remembered by fans or even recognize as a player. They are often remembered as losers! A football great has always been measured by their loyalty to the club, their focus on their career and their achievements, which we all know will follow when the first 2 things are accomplished.

So come on people, let us learn from these football players. Know that our time in this world ain't that much. Its much shorter than you think it is. Let us be giving our hearts totally to "football" (God. For those of you that are offended that I've equated football with God, please get angry with the devil, he deserves it more than me) in this short time and reap our rewards in eternity. Let us not be caught up in the things of the world and lose focus of what we are to do for such a time as this. I'm sure you don't wanna look back and regret on wasted opportunities. Trust me, you will regret if you aren't living right baby! I'm not saying that having friendships are wrong, certainly not, I would be a fool if I was meaning that, and my mama raised no fool. I'm saying, don't be caught up in it. Well, only you and God know whether you're caught up in something. So focus on your "career".

P.S. - This is a gentle reminder to all you blind dingbats that have actually already figured out your purpose of life and yet not living it and doing it. You're welcome.

'WORDS OF FAITH'
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:33-34 NKJV)

The Game of Life - Part 2, Listen To Your Manager

Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas and manager Arsène Wenger

Every football club is different. They have different styles of play. Some play 'direct play', some play 'counterattacking play' and etc. Managers are the factor for this. The quality of a team is often determined by the quality of the manager. We often see that when players start to forget their role as players and start to think that they are in control of the team, they not only slump in their personal performance on the pitch but they cause their entire team to lose matches. On the other hand, we also see that when players respect their managers, they begin to learn and mature fast as a footballer and as a person. They start to perpetuate in their improvement of their skills and technique. Not only that but they start to understand the vision of their manager as well and start to play beautifully as a team. When all the players of the team start to obey and listen to their manager, the manager begins to enjoy his time as a manager, the players enjoy playing together and the fans enjoy their time watching and cheering their team on.

Let us learn from this on honour and respect, submission and teachability. Often we forget that our leaders are doing everything in their ability for our well being. When we start to think of ourselves more highly then we ought to (not that we're not suppose to think of ourselves highly just that not more highly then we ought to la), our efforts in "training" (good works) are wasted and the whole team (cell group/church) becomes handicap because of our patheticness. Our perpetual success is then hindered just because of the 'I think I'm very smart' attitude.

We can learn from countless stories in the Bible about honour, respect, submission and being teachable. The story of Elijah (big shot manager) and Elisha (big shot manager's butler) is a classic example. For 11 years Elisha was doing nothing related to performing miracles or anything of the sort which we know that he did later on in the story. He got the double portion of anointing from Elijah not because he had already 11 years of experience in the ministry or he was praying consistently for 11 years but it was because he was simply submissive, teachable and gave respect and honour to his manager (Elijah). Am I saying then we should not pray? Certainly not!
Whatever Elijah told him to do he did it. Can you imagine what would've been the things Elijah told him to do? "Hey stack the chairs" or "Make sure the toilets are clean when I get back from raising the dead". Notice that he wasn't even a football player (a prophet in training). He was the manager's butler. Nothing to do directly with football. He probably didn't even know he was gonna be the successor of Elijah. Honour, respect, submission, being teachable plus passion was what eventually made Elisha a footballing legend.

So, LISTEN TO YOUR MANAGER...... LA!

'WORDS OF FAITH'
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give account. Let them do this with joy and not grief, for this would be unprofitable for you. (Hebrews 13:17 NASB)

The Game of Life - Part 1, Teammates

picture of Manchester United vs Malaysia by Bong Yang

Football, a communicative language that doesn't require you speak. The most popular and competitive sport in the world. The game which makes us, sometimes, dream and think we can play just like the guys on TV. For some reason I think God loves football too. I think He created football to show and teach us the meaning and purpose of our lives and to show us how much He loves us. There are so many values and lifestyle principles that we can learn from this sport. From every angle you would to look at football, there is always something you can learn from it, be it the fans, the managers, the clubs, the football superstars or legends, the list goes on, you are sure to find a valuable lesson. Wondering how I came up with this conclusion? Here goes...... (I'll be using some football terms along the way)

When financially not so rich clubs (like Arsenal) are unable to buy ready made good players (superstars), they stick as a team and work with what they have to be better and win. Despite their differences, they look beyond each others weaknesses and look at the positives of each other, seeing what they can benefit the team with. Accepting the fact that they are not as good as the other clubs, they work and train even harder than the others, hoping that their efforts will pay off at the end and be good enough to win the championship.

What does this tell us? Shows us that despite our differences, we should look beyond what people can't do and start to find out what people can do. I read something a friend posted up recently, it goes something like this, "Instead of changing the place, why not I just start to change my heart". Sometimes when we're struggling at a certain place and it seems like we're not 'winning enough games', the easier (cowardly) thing to do is to escape the problems by "transferring to another club". Come on, let us learn from the poor football clubs. Let us stick together, press on, push forward and finish this long season together. No matter how hard or tough its gonna get, we're all still, teammates.

To be continued......
Stay tuned for more on 'The Game of Life'.

No Purple Dinosaur

Some people think that Christians "imagine" their God up and the Bible is just some man created book that supposedly contains some sort of ancient holy writings. Sometimes you just can't help but wonder what is going on in these peoples minds. I'd really like to find out.

Just last year I was on a 3 day camp and we were to camp in the jungle on the first day. But I only knew that after we camped in the jungle on the first day. What an experience it was. Bathing in the river, brushing teeth with river water, having only 1 pair of extra clothes and half an hour of sleep in the night. In such a situation, you can't help but to just look around and know that there must be a Creator, a Designer for such beautiful things.

God ain't no purple dinosaur but if He really was my imaginary friend, He must be one hack of an imaginary friend since He can heal the sick and raise the dead. So keep on being confident in the one whom you have believed in. He is so God, that He can't help but to be God and love you.

Smells Like Fried Chicken

Last week, I was seriously ill and having symptoms of the all popular and dangerous H1N1 that have been circulating round in the newspapers. I was worried and scared somewhat yet still not really giving much thought to it. It was a really suffering time but as always when I'm not well physically I see things that don't usually catch my attention.

A few days into my illness, I went to the doctor and got some medicines. After taking them for the next few days, I really got weak and tired due to the after effects of the antibiotics. I didn't feel like talking or praying or reading the Bible or worshiping. But there was a period of time after taking a dosage of medicine, I felt alright and I went to read the Bible. After that day, I started getting better and I wasn't worried or fearful anymore. There was peace and I just felt joyful, for awhile.

Often when we talk to God, we're always just asking for something we want or need but we forget we're dealing with a Person and often treat Him like a furniture or a vending machine. We've got to begin to cultivate His presence and be aware that He is near. When we do that, all the goodness of His nature or His "aura" will just rub on to us whether be it healing that we need or finance or joy or peace or faith. Just like having fried chicken in our house. When there is fried chicken there, obviously you'll be able to smell fried chicken right? You don't have to tell yourself "I must smell it, I must smell it", you'll just be smelling it. But when you don't even have fried chicken at home, how in the world are you going to be able to smell fried chicken? Imagine the smell ah? So you can't get the promises of Jesus or the Holy Spirit's attributes if you don't have Him. When you begin to just be aware that Jesus is near and here, the very thing that you need or want will be there too. If you're having a presentation in college and you need courage, just worship Him and just be in His presence, faith will be present with you can we know that faith carries the element of courage. If you need love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness or self-control (or all of the above), just call Him and when He arrives in your house, you'll just be getting all of these. You don't even have to ask for them! If your dumb and do idiotic things that you regret later on and you really want wisdom, read His Word, the Bible, and you'll get smarter.

As you're reading this, you can be anywhere, at work, at school, at home. Jesus is there right now with you. Smells like fried chicken doesn't it?

The Christian F Word

Faith, the Christian F word. Recently I've been searching for the meaning of this word 'faith', and through some sources these are some definitions I've found.

faith [feyth]
-noun
  1. confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another's ability
  2. belief that is not base on proof: He had faith that the hypothesis would be substantiated by fact
  3. belief in anything, as a code of ethics, standards of merit, etc.: to be of the same faith with someone concerning honesty
  4. belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion: the firm faith of the Pilgrims
  5. a system of religious belief: the Christian faith; the Jewish faith
  6. the obligation of loyalty or fidelity to a person, promise, engagement, etc.: Failure to appear would be breaking faith
  7. the observance of this obligation; fidelity to one's promise, oath, allegiance, etc.: He is the only one who proved his faith in recent troubles
  8. Christian Theology. the trust in God and in His promises as made through Christ and the Scriptures by which humans are justified or saved
All of the above are somewhat correct translations of the word faith, but which one actually is the real deal? Or in other words, which one is the faith that was described and used by Jesus or Paul in the Bible? Or is it none of the above?

The answer is ....................
Faith has many dimensions. In the Bible we find out that faith is a substance of things hope for the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). We also know that without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). Also in Ephesians 2:8, we understand that we are saved by grace through faith, and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God.

I've learned some dimensions of faith as well through teachings and preachings and also revelation from God Himself. Here are some cool explanations.
  1. Persistence isn't faith, neither is patience faith and neither boldness and courage faith, but faith has the elements of persistence, patience and boldness and courage.
  2. Faith isn't a feeling but when you have faith, it feels good.
  3. When we look at grace (a.k.a Jesus) in any time, whether good or bad times, Grace looks back at us and says that is faith.
  4. Mustard seed of faith also can move mountains.
Awesome isn't it? When we start to understand the meanings of what God's actually talking about, we have a new perspective of things (read 'All Eyes On You' post for more insight).

Here is a joke to highlight this post.

A man was drowning in the sea. He shouted and screamed with all of his heart and might, "God save me!!". A few minutes later, a boat passed by. Men threw life rescue tubes and shouted,
"Grab on, grab onto the tube!". The man answered, "It's ok. Don't worry about me. I've prayed to God and He's gonna save me. My faith is in Him!". The boat left. After some hours another boat passed by and men threw life rescue tubes to him and shouted, "Grab on, we're here to save you!". The man answered, "Don't worry about me. I've prayed to God and He's gonna save me. My faith is in Him!". The man died in the end and went to heaven. He then asked God furiously, "Why didn't You save me? Didn't You hear me?". God answered and said, "I SENT YOU 2 GIANT BOATS YOU BIG DUMMIE!".

Sometimes we want God to show up in the way we want things to happen and finally miss the very thing we actually prayed for. 'It's my life, I'll do what I want' attitude or 'I don't care what people think about me, I'll do it my way' attitude will only lead us to the destruction of ourselves. Sometimes people think that faith is being stubborn, and the truth is that stubbornness is not at all a dimension of faith.

Get in focus people, look at grace (the gift of God, Jesus) and grace looks back at us and says that that is faith and He is pleased in the end because you have just used faith and faith pleases God.

'WORDS OF FAITH'
When Jesus heard this, He was amazed. Turning to those who were following Him, He said, "I tell you the truth, I haven't seen faith like this in all Israel!". (Matthew 8:10 NLT)

'REVELATION'
We look at grace and grace looks back at us and says "That is faith".

Part Of Something Big!

As we walk this journey called life, we eventually figure that money and fame isn't all to life. We then get into a group or be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Some find a person to be with, some start their own enterprise, some become fans of a football team and the list goes on. Whether poor or rich, young or old, people will have the desire to be a part of something big and significant.

Just last Saturday, I was at a football at our home stadium, Bukit Jalil. A match between the past 3 season English Premier League champions and my home team Malaysia. As we journeyed to the 90,000 seater stadium, me and my friends were all psyched and ready to cheer. We entered the stadium and as the 2 teams began to walk out of the players tunnel, the crowds cheer was enough to cause an earthquake. I soon realise that I was part of the minority supporting our Malaysian team due to the popularity of Manchester United. In my mind I sort of knew we were gonna lose, but I really was positive that night and I knew WE COULD DO IT!
Around 10 minutes and Manchester United scored the first goal. A few years back when they came, we lost 6-0 and flashbacks of our humiliating defeat spoke to me that it was gonna happen again tonight. A few minutes later it was 2-0. I took a deep breath and kept on cheering on for my home team. It was nearing half-time and the 44th minute of the game, my dream since I was a kid came true. A dream to cheer at a goal my home team would score. It was a beautiful goal and the score was now 2-1 as half-time drew in. Second half and just as it got on the way, a fumble by the Manchester keeper gave us a 2-2 scoreline. There was such a cheer in the crowd that it gave the Malaysian team some hope that we could actually win this! As the match drew to a close it was around the 80th minute that Manchester finally sealed the win. The match ended at a close, 3-2 final score.

At the end of everything, things that matter seem to not matter anymore. Like who scored the goals but focus was on how hard the team tried and played. Seeing them just try was good enough for me as a supporter and it really showed me that we can do it if we tried.

Friends, we've got to start to understand that we are already actually part of the biggest thing in the world. We got to know that our life was meant for a purpose and a mission. Just like a watch proves that there is a watch maker and a watch was designed to show us time, the existence of us human beings proves that there is a maker and we must have a purposed for living. This mission is so big and victorious in nature that even the championship cup has already been won by our Lord, Jesus Christ. All we gotta do now is show off that championship cup, our salvation, His grace. So lets do that.

Isn't It Strange

I recently read an e-mail that really was catchy and also with lots of truth in it that we could use to evaluate ourselves. Here is how it goes..........

Isn't it strange
how a 20 ringgit bill seems like such a large amount when you give it to church,
but such a small amount when you go shopping?

Isn't it strange
how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church,
and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

Isn't it strange
that you can't find a word to say when you're praying but..
you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

Isn't it strange
how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible but
how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or Stephenie Meyer book?

Isn't it strange
how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or football games but
they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

Isn't it strange
how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks
before the day so we can include it in our agenda,
but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?

Isn't it strange
how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others
but how easy it is to learn, believe and repeat gossip?

Isn't it strange
how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say but...
we question the words in the Bible?

If you are a person as described like the above statements, you seriously have a problem. Ask God to reveal Himself to you, which most often than not, He will answer your prayers. Your breakthrough and new beginning starts today. May God bless you with all the riches of heaven and may we continue to impact this world with the reality of the authentic gospel.

A Royal Flush

Hey everyone, I'm back blogging again after sometime of being away. Been really exciting and adventurous times in full time ministry, and I'm glad to be back here, writing.

I'd like to start this post by thanking some people that have made things not only interesting but revolutionary in my life. Special thanks to Ps. Bill Johnson, Dan MacCollam, Kris Vallotton, Joseph Prince and David Wong for making clear the things and Person I believe in. Your influence and teachings have really been crucial in my ministry.

A couple of weeks ago I was on a journey of searching the true identity of who am I and who do I preach about. With seemingly endless searching, my seeking came to an end as God revealed Himself in teachings and preachings of the people I've just mentioned above. It's true that when we seek we shall find.

Before the Acts of the Apostles, The Great Commission given by Jesus, told us to preach the gospel and that signs and wonders will accompany the preaching of its gospel.
The gospel is the grace of God and often than not, we Christians have preached a gospel mixed with some of our own definition and perception of who God is and not being plain Bible believing Christians. Another problem we face is that our mentality is not at par level with our identity. This also brings a confusion and have subconsciously made us not confident in our gospel when we witness to friends and people around. We can see this exact thing in the book of Exodus that God told Moses to tell the people that they were His special treasure, but when Moses told the Israelites, they answered with what a slave would answer, "All that the Lord has spoken we will do". God has called us a chosen generation a royal priesthood, but sometimes because of what we used to be in, living in Egypt (which speaks of the world), our ways of survival (which speaks of our way of life), our mentality is not leveled with our identity and therefore we do not succeed and no signs and wonders follow what we preach.

There are some guys I've been discipling for this past year, teaching them about the grace of God and our rightful identity of who we are in Christ. This harvest season they have brought so many people to cell groups and Praise Celebration and I believe this signs and wonders followed them as their mentality have come to the same place as their identity. By the grace of God, we are what we are and that not of works but by the grace of God we're saved.

We are saved by grace through faith and yet sometimes we mix them around and thought that we're saved by faith through grace. These two statements both seem right but if you would look at the sentences carefully you'll understand that these two statements are totally different.

In 1 Peter, our identity of who we are is mentioned yet again, this time describing us as a chosen generation, a royal priesthood. Revival and the supernatural will come when we have grace, Jesus, as our foundation before all the other things that we preach and teach. We are more than a conqueror and truly we are a royal flush!

'WORDS OF FAITH'
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirits that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs-heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. (Romans 8:16-17 NKJV)

All Eyes On You

Have you ever wondered why people can go to church week in and week out, some even serve in the ministry and yet still are unfruitful and defeated? Some do spend time with God yet along the way they somehow get stagnant. In my search of this answer, going through times like what I've just described myself, a verse in the Bible concluded it.

Revelation 4:8 says this......... and truly its really a revelation.... haha
The four living creatures, each having six wings, full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:
"Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!"

Wow! What kind of creature is that?!? Ridiculous!! Eyes all around AND within? Can you imagine that? Eyes on it's wings, eyes on it's legs, on it's hands, IN it's bones...... My goodness! Why so many eyes??
And as I asked the question earlier in the post, God's answer comes with just one word, perspective.
These four living creatures could keep on saying "Holy holy holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!", night and day, all their lives, because they saw different aspects of God every moment with their many eyes. Perspective. The only reasonable action for us to do now is to be on the constant search of who God is, not to know more about God, but knowing more about God so that we can worship Him in a new aspect and experience that very new expect of Him. We will never run dry or feel "out of steam" as we serve God. It all comes back to worship, which is total obedience and submission to His will.

So since we need to know more about God and who He is, let me just help you with some words that I've come to realise its true meaning. In the bible......

Strength - Perpetual success and impenetrable to temptation
Holy - Different
Word of God - Jesus
Minister/Ministry = Servant/Serving = Shut up and just do it!
Rejoice - Jump up, spin around in the influence of a violent emotion
Hallelujah - (halle) To boast, to shine, to put on a show, to rave (lu) for (Jah - short for Jehovah) God

I hope this helps you a little in your perspective of who God is now. So now when you say or sing, 'You are my strength, Your strength is made perfect in weakness, holy are You God, I'll spend time with Jesus, You rejoice over me or hallelujah', doesn't it give you a totally different picture of the promises of God for us or the greatness of God or how much He longs to spend time with us?

When we worship God in the very essence of what a word means, we not only bring glory to Him, but we also grow in faith + the devil is trembling because we know our identity in Christ. He must be shaking now.... hahaha....

Enough said, let us have all "eyes" on God in these last days of human history. May His "force" be with you.

'WORDS OF FAITH'
The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One will save, He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV)
p.s. - I'm sure you're really amazed now at what this verse actually means but check out the Amplified Bible version of this verse, its gonna be an additional "eye" for you.

And find out what pleases the Lord. (Ephesians 5:10 NIV)
p.s. - I'd like to just highlight this verse, but whenever a verse in the Bible starts with an 'and', please go and read the verses before it.

The Enemies Camp

Greetings everyone, its been awhile since I last posted something, but I'll be posting at least once a month and I hope to do more.

These 1/4 of the year has been an unsafe time for our community as we hear and read about many bad happenings in our community like robbery and theft and even murder. This post I'm sending out is so that we the children of God will stop the devil in his pursuit to destroy our community. Some of these victims are people I know personally and please, people of God, we cannot let this unruly events continue anymore. Let us pray for our community, not only cover them with prayers but as well let us be in the attacking position towards the enemies camp. Let us also pray for our MP YB Wee Choo Keong for wisdom and favour as he tackle this issue. I believe that we are the ones who can make a change in this world, TODAY!

Here's a testimony I'd like to share with you, to encourage you to pray for our community and hunger and thirst after the higher things in life. I hope you are blessed : )

Just a year ago, we decided to launch our church's youth outreach toward the secondary schools in our community. We've seen our youth group grow from 0 to around 20+ that we're actively in contact with. Here's a cool mathematical fact........ We're not only seeing things double, triple, quadruple but we're seeing things grow from nothing into something. Just yesterday, some of us celebrated one of these youths birthday and we and he had real good time. Just seeing him so happy as we wished him 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!' and buying him a cake, made all the sacrifices of money and time and personal leisure totally and absolutely worthwhile.

Many surprising things have been happening to 'the little darling' recently too. Well as you know part 4 of 'the little darling' was the last part but if you're still interested to follow more on the life of 'the little darling', let me know and I'll starting writing again....... soon.

All these happenings, extremely bad and extremely good must surely be pointing towards the second coming of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Therefore let us live our lives seeking first His Kingdom and His righteousness.

'WORDS OF FAITH'
Let us hear the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man's all.
For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil.
(Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NKJV)

Reflector

planetshakers CD 'Reflector'

Just to share about why this blog is titled 'Reflector' and why my email adds always have the words reflecting. Well it was 7 years ago, back in December 2002 that the whole course of my life would turn as I encountered Jesus and well, personally, the greatest love this world has ever seen. It was this song 'Reflector' by Planetshakers that the perspective of 'LIFE' in my mind changed. Since that day forward, I've been on constant surrender to Him to get to a place of worshipping Him alone. If I could do it all again, I wouldn't change a thing. Here's a story of Peter yet again, someone that probably was like me, changed from the inside out.

In Acts 5:15 we read about Peter's shadow healing the sick. Ever wondered about Peter's shadow? Special you would say huh? Well, I think it was pretty special. Check out this definition, Peter's shadow meant that his inner world was leaking out. Hahaha. Cool heh?

In our lives we reflect many things, but what? who? Brothers and sisters, we've gotta get "in touch" with Jesus. Why is worship all about? Well in one sentence I think worship is about the heart, not a song, but a song of the expression of the heart. The only response when we experience God is to repent of our ways and surrender. That's true worship, total obedience and submission to God.

'WORDS OF FAITH'
For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one. much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:17 NKJV)

A Place For You

Here's a parable/story I heard from my friend Jimmy which he heard from a preacher. I find it to be very interesting and a little humorous too. Well to me it was. Here's how the parable goes......

There was a guitarist that served God in the music ministry/worship ministry. He played his instrument as a service unto God every week, whether it'd be in prayer meetings, small group gatherings or Sunday praise & worship. He lived all his life that way until he died and went to Heaven. When he got to Heaven, an angel checked him into his mansion. And looking from afar, he was so excited and could barely hold in his joy because of the reward that awaited him. Reaching his mansion, the door opened and as he looked into his huge great mansion, to his shock, lay in it a guitar. He started to question and ask..... "Is that all? Haven't I faithfully served You my whole life? Shouldn't I be greatly rewarded or at least more than this?

What a wonderful parable, don't you think so?
We often serve God out of convenience or in things we know we can do. No faith needed whatsoever. What about those times where someone needed the preaching of the gospel (well everyone needs the gospel), or a prayer of blessing, or God told us "Don't do this today, I want you to do that instead?"

Notice that when Jesus said "I go to prepare a place for you", it was a promise, and great is His faithfulness, we technically can do absolutely nothing with our Christian lives and still get a mansion. But what's in it? All depends on how we burn the 1 candle we have, our lives. Do we want to go to Heaven and in our mansion only have a TV with a stack of DVDs (only Korean dramas, not even Hong Kong dramas... haha), or find a metallic briefcase with a pair of camera lenses in it, or an album with pictures of earthly memories, or a piece of guitar?

I hope this blog entry has touched and changed your heart and mind. If you feel that this post condemns you, let me tell you, it wasn't intended to. It was intended to steer and redirect you into the center of God's will. I for one wouldn't wanna go to Heaven seeing my friends having no eternal rewards. So let us, in all our pursuits in life, never forget the purpose of our very lives.

'WORDS OF DESTINY'

'WORDS OF FAITH'

The Little Darling - Part 4, Heroes

NBC series 'Heroes' logo

The past few weeks has been a mix emotion time for me. Having a ridiculously blessed year in 2008, I know this year will be far greater but what? how? Stepping into this year, the feeling in me is as if I were stepping into the unknown. With prophecies in 2007 directing me for 2008, this year, no prophecies have been given to me last year on the directions I should take this year. All I can do is pray and seek for more of His presence and power to manifest through my life and just hope that I don't screw it up.

As you might have already known, 'the little darling' is very dear to my heart. But concern soon turned to worries and it started to eat up my faith. Knowing that her life wasn't going all that well, I searched for an answer and solution to change her and her situation. Failing and failing in helping her and teaching her good values, I kept on rising up again to handle the situation. Seeing the devil heading towards victory, I thought I could fight the devil and overpower him.

I then had dream, a dream that reminded me of a similar dream I had a year back when the youth ministry just started. The dream goes like this........

In the dream, I was walking in my secondary school. I then saw a mysterious looking old lady with a hunched back and a walking stick in her hand staring weirdly at me. I then walked up the stairs heading to my classroom when I saw a friend that was close to me during my secondary schooling years being attacked by a werewolf sort of creature. I then took out something like a sword-like weapon to fight it. In the midst of fighting it the werewolf's attention turned towards me and it overpowered me to the ground and stabbed me in the guts. I started to bleed and was dying when I then woke up from the dream. But before waking up from the dream, a thought flashed across my mind that the mysterious old lady was the actually the werewolf.

I then remembered the meaning of this dream when I first got it from God. I already had the meaning of this dream interpreted and when I had it this time, the message sank in deeper. I then spent some time in the presence of the Lord, and the Holy Spirit spoke to me that 'If you don't let go bigger doors, greater doors and opportunity will not come your way'. I then prayed a hard prayer, which is to let go 'the little darling' into the hands of God.

Communication hasn't been good with her lately, but I know for sure that God can do great and might things and that He has her precious life in His hands.

In our lives we reach a point of time in our lives where we realize that life is not just living for ones self but for others, surviving in this world for the sake of someone else. We dig deep into the very core of our being, hoping that someway or somehow we might find the answers to the problems of the people around us. We try our best to be heroes and saviours to them but all we find in ourselves often is not big enough to give. As we continue this endless search of finding the hero inside of us or wait for the time to come where it will surface, we often forget that the hero in us is Him and not us.

In Zachariah 4:6 it says
'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty.
Truly, no matter what we do or say, we can never transform a life. We may be able to inspire but that's as far as it will ever go. This verse tells us also between the lines, that we need to use our power and might but it is not because of what we do or how much we do that lives are changed, but it is by the the Spirit of the Lord.

I hope this final part to 'The Little Darling' has taught you a great deal on surrendered and selfless love. Remember, that as we use our power and might, every ounce of our lives to touch others, it is not because of that that people turn to Jesus, but it is by God's might hand that DNAs are altered. Nevertheless, let us go and do what we must do in our lifetime on earth, honouring God, seizing every opportunity that is laid before us and also those that are not laid before us, being channels for the Holy Spirit to touch others.

'WORDS OF FAITH'
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down every arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. (2 Corinthians 10:4-6 NKJV)
